Details
There are two ESK weir variants, underflow and overflow weirs. In the overflow weir system, the weir is overflowed by the headwater and then enters the tailwater. The weir is supported on the concrete sill. With the underflow weir system, the volume of water to be discharged is discharged via the weir sill. The weir is supported or attached to the building ceiling or a lintel above the weir sill. In most cases, ESK weirs are driven electro-hydraulically. It is also possible to control drives electrically. With the ESK weir, the headwater is dammed up to the maximum water level. This is recorded by means of a level measurement in the structure upstream of the weir system. Once the maximum water level has been reached, the flap opens until the excess water has been released. In the event of high water in the downstream area, the ESK weir closes against the upstream water and thus the sewer network. ESK weirs are usually supplied with an EMSR set-up that performs a dry run of the system once a day.
